Innovative Design is USC’s premier creative agency club. It’s a community of designers, photographers, and web developers utilizing our skills to support other student orgs.
I joined Innovative Design as a Graphic Designer in the fall of 2020. I was put into a team, and for the subsequent two semesters, my teams and I completed two logo redesign projects: one for the Society of Women in Law, and one for the Korean American Student Association. Through this club, I learned how to work as a team, but also with a client. I learned a lot about the design process, and became a stronger designer through it.
I was a Design Team Lead in Fall 2021, helping and mentoring my team or designers to create a logo for the Environmental Student Assembly at USC. I now serve as the VP of Creative Services, finding and interacting with clients.
Role: Graphic Designer

PROJECT O1
In our lo-fi drafts, we experimented with both feminine and androgynous designs to find the right balance between strength and softness.

This project was fun to work on, and communication with the client was key. If we were to work on it again, we would define the scope of the project more clearly and have a standardized way to present our work to the client.
PROJECT O2
The client wanted to keep the tiger and the circular logo, so I experimented with many different styles of tigers. I'd never drawn one before, so it took me some time to perfect my design into something recognizeable.

This logo combines the client's need for a circular logo with a tiger, while giving it a more modern and polished flair.
We decided to go with the colors red and blue to reflect the colors of the Korean Flag. We also picked a typography that was reminiscent of Korean calligraphy.
This was my first experience at creating a logo for a true client. It was a little sad to see my favorite design not being picked, but it was interesting to view things in the perspective of the client, and learn how to work off of them without losing your personal identity and style.
